IEEESTEC 12th Student project conference (2019)

The twelth student conference, “IEEESTEC 12th Student projects conference”, was held on November 28, 2019 at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš (http://ieee.elfak.ni.ac.rs/). The conference was organized by the student branch of IEEE SB Niš, EESTEC LC Niš and the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš, in cooperation with IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section, IEEE Electron Devices/Solid-State Circuits Chapter and IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Chapter, supported by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) as well as Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
At the IEEE SB Nis meeting held on February 2019, the initiative for organizing the “IEEESTEC 12th Student projects conference” was supported. The IEEE Section Serbia-Montenegro has supported this initiative.
We sent a call for the conference to authors of papers from previous conference, to all student organizations in Serbia, student branches of IEEE, members of the IEEE Section Serbia and Montenegro. The total number of received papers is 82 (in the field of: electronics, microelectronics, telecommunications, automatics, power engineering, informatics, physics, student mobility etc.). All papers passed review phase, with a minimum of three reviews being provided for each paper. In the review process, 55 professors and teaching assistants of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš helped us. Based on the received reviews, awards were given:

Based on the received papers, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Niš published the “IEEESTEC 12th Student projects conference”, ISBN: 978-86-6125-215-0. Editors of the Proceedings are: prof. Dr Ninoslav Stojadinović, prof. Dr Vera Marković, doc. Dr Danijel Danković and doc. Dr Zlatica Marinković. The conference was organized by the Organizing Committee consisting of: Doc. Dr Danijel Danković, President of the Conference, Dušan Vučković and Miloš Marjanović, Vice-Presidents of the Conference. The secretariat of the conference consisted students from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš: Jana Vračar, Aleksandra Stojković, Milan Stojanović, Nikola Mitrović, Jovana Veselinović, Željko Radojković, Anđela Stojiljković, Kristina Avramović, Nikola Radisavljević, Milan Ivković, Marija Živković, Nina Dimitrijević, Anđela Kocić, Sandra Veljković, Milivoje Mihajlović, Ana Sentov, Stefan Popović, Stefana Zogović.
The conference was officially opened by the vice-rector of the University of Niš, prof. dr Vesna Lopičić. On behalf of the IEEE Section Serbia and Montenegro, the participants were greeted by prof. Dr Vera Marković, and on the behalf of IEEE Chapter Microwave Theory and Techniques Society, the participants were greeted by prof. Dr Zlatica Marinković. Welcome speech also gave prof. Dr Dragan Mančić, dean of Faculty of Electronic Engineering, as well as the Vice-Dean of the faculty, prof. Dr Nebojša Dončov. On the behalf of EESTEC LC Niš the speech was given by Jovana Veselinović. The president of the conference is Danijel Danković, and the opening program was held by Miloš Marjanović, the vice-president of the conference.
The best papers in both categories were presented verbally. All papers (including awarded) were presented as poster papers in the hall of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš. In addition to posting posters in four-hour time, the authors also used PowerPoint presentations, simulation on the computer, their models and finished products/projects. The authors themselves selected the most interesting paper:

Within the conference and under the auspices of the Center for the Promotion of Science (CPS), workshops were held at the StartUp Center at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering as part of the project “Let’s put knowledge into practical work”. Workshops were attended by students of elementary and high schools, where they participated in making practical projects onto breadboard, Arduino environment and ELENCO Snap Circuits kit. Other projects financed by the CPS showed their potential. Also, representatives of the Regional Center for Professional Development from Niš and representatives of the Center for Vocational Training in Education from Leskovac and their Science Clubs presented opportunity for cooperation on similar projects.
This year, the Institute for the Improvement of Education by Decision No. 1648-2 / 2019 of October 21, 2019, approved the meeting “12. International IEEESTEC Conference ”, code S389 / 2019, as a form of professional development - conference. 43 teachers and professors attended the conference and they received certificates of participation. During the conference, they attended presentations of papers, workshops and lectures on the importance of hands-on teaching, and eventually participated in the final discussion and the conclusion of the conference.
The IEEEESTEC Conference organized a competition for the best business idea sponsored by the IEEE R8 Entrepreneurship Initiative. The event was jointly organized by SB Nis and SB Novi Sad. Before the competition, a presentation of the StartUp Center Nis was held and also a lecture on agile entrepreneurship by prof. Slavimir Stošović, PhD. Three teams presented their business ideas; the first prize went to the Open-ALL Niš team, the second place went to the EcoRoof Novi Sad team, and the third place went to TakeCare Niš. The jury was composed of Slavimir Stošović, an entrepreneur; Aleksandra Ristić, StartUp Niš; Ivan Anastasijević, IEEE YP S&M. The competition was conducted by Barbara Vujkov, IEEE SB Novi Sad.
All authors received the IEEESTEC Conference promotional material: proceeding of papers, a ballpoint pen, a block,a bag and IEEESTEC branded thermos. The best papers were awarded with diplomas and awards, gifts from friends of the conference. We hope that next year this conference will be even better organized and more massive.
